The times where a brand new game is about to come out can be extremely exciting; or extremely underwhelming. In the case of various Nintendo games, they can go either way. Although one game always manages to get everyone excited. A little series by the name of Super Smash Brothers has swept the nation and the hearts of everyone who has played the games since 1999 with their first game on the Nintendo 64. Fans are eagerly waiting for the newest installment coming out December 7th, 2018. Dubbed Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, this game is coming with every single character that has appeared in the entirety of series thus far, with plenty of stages and modes.
The game has dubbed itself as the “Ultimate” Smash Bros game, and I am one to agree with their decision of calling it the ultimate game in this franchise thus far. Firstly let’s start with the playable characters and fighters. Over the past 19 years many fighters have come and gone, some fighters will always be here to the end of time. Recognizable characters from Nintendo’s line up ever since the early days such as Mario, Link from the Legend of Zelda, Kirby from his own series, and Pikachu from of course Pokemon. To more recent characters like the Inklings from Splatoon, and the Villager from Animal Crossing. Yet there are still video game legends such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, and Solid Snake being in the roster, a whopping 72 characters total with a reported 5 DLC (Downloadable Content) characters on the way. Now if having a lot of characters isn’t enough, those characters all have modes to play, and you play as any one of them in these modes. Classic mode is like a classic arcade mode in a regular fighting game with various matches with different characters on your way to the finish to fight a boss. All-Star mode where you are tasked with fighting every single fighter in the game and make it to victory to the end. Spirits mode, a kind of mission mode where you are tasked with fighting other fighters in mission type structure, such as you being turned tiny while your opponent is giant, so much variety! On top of those modes which is a lot already, there’s is a mode called World Of Light, the game’s story/adventure mode that involves you rescuing every character from a horrible fate of being possessed by the antagonist of the game. The game has a variety of modes, old and new that has been done years upon years of game making, the game has reached “Perfection” in the eyes of fans, audiences, and critics. I guess you can really say, it’s the Ultimate Game.
