Halloween is celebrated by people who dress in costumes and go around trick-or-treating.  Rancho Mirage High School is doing a pumpkin carving contest and a costume contest. More than 157 million Americans plan to celebrate Halloween.

Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from ancient Celtic harvest festivals. People tend to think that Dia de Los Muertos is the same as Halloween because both celebrations involve costumes, skeletons, and treats as well as graveyards and death imagery. Dia de Los Muertos is a day to celebrate death or, more specifically, the deceased while on Halloween, death is seen as something to be feared.
